Book Review: Escape From Cubicle Nation

Are you in the land of cubes and ready to escape?

Pamela Slim sure was! I’ve read her 2010 book Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur a couple times. The cover with the guy looking over the cube wall is pretty funny and so are her references to the corporate satire Office Space (a great movie to see if you are a corporate dweller!).

Pamela’s book provides the aspiring entrepreneur with a healthy dose of reality as he or she dreams about making that leap from the corporate cubical world to entrepreneurial success. It doesn’t promise a “get rich quick” journey yet demonstrates how important it is to plan, test, evaluate and yes, test again your idea to clearly gauge if you are in the midst of an expensive hobby or have a potentially rockin’ business just waiting to get out.

She also delves into the ”mindset” of an entrepreneur because not everyone in your life will support what you are doing. That is just the way that it is… and we forgive those people for being the lovelys that they are. :-) If you haven’t yet, trust me… it will be freeing once you forgive them and thrive off “I’m doing it anyway!” You can always practice the art of selective conversations and keep in positive company with other entrepreneurs who support you.

Pam’s book is an excellent way to get started if you are ready to follow your passion. Grab the post-it notes and a pen because you are going to want to take notes and add a few reference tabs.

Your resource to help you make the leap awaits!
