It’s National Sleep Awareness Week!
March 5-11, 2012
We are heading into spring which means Daylight Savings Time is near. Our clocks will “spring forward” and we will lose 1-hour of sleep. So many Americans are not getting recommended 7-8 hours per night of sleep.
What is a mom to do when sleep is in such short supply? Sleep loss is common among moms taking care of infants and small children as well as moms who are also in the midst of their careers. I’m included in that group, especially being a working mom.
Last year during National Sleep Awareness Week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Steven Lamm (a friend of ABC-TV’s The View) on the topic of sleep loss and insomnia.
Dr. Lamm offered valuable insight regarding sleep loss and its impact on Americans (including moms). He also provided great suggestions to moms on how to manage sleep loss and insomnia.
Since it’s the week to be aware of the sleep (or lack of sleep) we get each night, I thought it’d be a great time to share the interview once again.
